I’m sending this note as a timely reminder of upcoming ocean fishing regulation changes. The hatchery Coho season ends from Cape Falcon to Humbug Mountain on Sunday, August 21st, (Please tell all your friends). Effective September 1st All Depth Bottom Fishing reopens and All Depth Halibut changes to open seven days per week with a daily quota of two halibut, and bottom fish can be retained. On Saturday, September 3rd Open for All Salmon starts with a Coho quota of 17,000 fish.
The Umpqua River is open for Fall Chinook, 2 per day, twenty for the year. There has been no announcement yet from ODFW regarding wild Coho retention in the rivers. Other Oregon rivers are either shutdown or restricted for salmon fishing.
There is no OCA meeting on the first Thursday of September. The OCA Annual Meeting and BBQ is scheduled for the third Thursday, September 15th, starting at 5:00 PM at the Marina Activity Center in Winchester Bay.
