Thirty members attended the November 4th OCA Meeting. Trevor Dupuis and Michael Lane, Umpqua River USCG were our Guest Speakers. They did an excellent job answering the numerous questions posed by members. We learned that the tragic boating accident in October, when two people drowned, resulted from inexperience on the Umpqua Bar. Many thanks to Trevor and Michael for speaking at our meeting, and for their service.

Beverly Lund, OCA Treasurer, reported that we have $11,601 in the OCA checking account. OCA paid the Conservation Scholarship winners $2,000 in August.

There was no old business, since we haven’t had a meeting recently.

There was a lot of new business discussion; possible new bottomfishing and halibut fishing regulations for 2022, the ODFW Southern Zone RSP, the OCA 2022 Calendar (Draft attached), Siltcoos Lake Coho fishing, OCA Fish Dinner February 3rd , Eel Lake petition submitted by Robert Golden, and request for new OCA officer volunteers.

Fishing Tech; I shared ideas for giving your hoochies more life. I’ve started adding spinners to the back hook of my flies. Check out the spinners available from the www.fishermanshack.net, located in Monmouth, OR. I also brought my Renogy 12v Lithium Iron Phosphate 100ah battery and charger for those interested. The knot tester was also available. If you have innovative tackle or fishing techniques, please share them with OCA members.

Deborah Yates, GRWB STEP President provided an update on the Gardiner hatchery activities. OCA members are invited to visit the hatchery next Wednesday, November 10th to help out with salmon spawning, starting at 8:30 AM.

There were numerous fishing items raffled at the end of the meeting. Skip Rosenbalm, Florence won the 50/50, $87. Skip was happy.

A draft 2022 calendar is attached, please reply to me, if you have some activities that you would like OCA to consider for next year.
