The Lower Umpqua Fly Casters Exposition on Saturday, February 26th in Reedsport was a huge success. Because of Covid the expo was cancelled last year, and many of us wondered how many anglers would attend this year. We were all delighted with the response, as hundreds of interested and enthusiastic people were there.
The Oregon Coast Anglers table was set up with the Knot Tester, and examples of terminal fishing gear ranging from Shad to Halibut, and copies of an updated OCA Newsletter. During the entire exposition, there were interested anglers reviewing the tackle display, testing their expertise in knot tying and asking questions. Fortunately, some of OCA’s expert anglers were there at the table to answer questions. Steve Godin, OCA President was busy tying Clouser Minnows and Rockfish Deceiver Flies. Not many flies were tied, as much of the time was dedicated to discussions regarding fly fishing techniques for bottom fish.
There was something for everyone at the exposition; raffles, silent auctions, expert fly tiers, three presentations, food and even some fly casting. It was nice to see so many people interested in fishing taking advantage of the exposition. The Oregon Coast Anglers were a significant presence at the expo, and we have four new members as a result.
This was all made possible by the Lower Umpqua Fly Casters, they did a great job, thank you.
