The OCA Conservation Scholarship Program will wrap up this month. We have some candidates to evaluate and announcements will be made next month.

At the request of the Reedsport Rotary, I provided via ZOOM a presentation regarding OCA. It went well, and OCA is appreciated by Rotary Members.

Reedsport will have a Memorial Day Parade this year. I’m looking for volunteers to trailer their boat in the parade and display the OCA Banners. I will be there to help out.

Fishing Report; a few of us have been trying to catch Spring Chinook in the Umpqua River. Very few fish have been landed. Dale Turpin, OCA Member was kind enough to send me some pictures of him and Jerry Noel, another OCA Member with salmon. I was beginning to forget what they looked like, thanks Dale.

When you can get out, bottom fishing in the ocean has been productive. Recently the Ling Cod Challenge Tournament organized by Pacific Pond Charters was won by the Federated Seafoods Team with a 17.5 pound Ling Cod. They won the nice bottom fishing rod and reel that OCA donated. Cod mashers came in second place with a 13.25 Ling Cod and won donations made by Y Marina.
