Saturday, April 18th over three hundred pounds of whole fish caught by Oregon Coast Anglers members are on their way to Brandywine Fisheries, a seafood processor in Springfield. There they will be filleted, vacuum packed and frozen. OCA will pay for the processing, and all the processed fish will be donated to the Reedsport Pantry for those less fortunate.

OCA members, Doug Buck, Bob and Gloria Free, Steve Godin, Tim Hooper, Steven O’Neal, Gary and Julie Palmer, Bill Taylor, Mark Teeter, and Tim Turner contributed Rockfish they caught on the Ten Mile Reef. Fish donated included Ling Cod, Canary Rockfish, Widow Rockfish, Blue Rockfish and Yellowtail Rockfish, all of them are delicious. We all met at the West boat launch in Winchester Bay at 3:00 PM to transfer our fish to Ed and Harriette Balfour, commercial anglers, who would transfer the fish to Brandywine Fisheries. The fish will be frozen and transferred to the Reedsport Food Pantry for distribution. I thank all OCA members who contributed fish, and Ed and Harriette Balfour for helping us get the fish processed. This was a nice opportunity for anglers to work together for the good of our community. Those wishing to help, OCA is a 501C3, donations can be made to help with the cost of fish processing to OCA and mailed to OCA, PO Box 584, Reedsport, OR 97467. Please write in the remarks area of the check, “Fish Processing”.

Regarding social distancing, we only got close for a moment (no contact), while pictures were taken. When we were all done everyone was prepared with hand sanitizers and used them.
